3 Reasons

3 Reasons is a company of leading market analysts, with a unique proprietary model of the UK competitive landscape for TV and long form video on demand.

Since 2005, 3 Reasons has provided an authoritative and widely-accepted model which delivers a comprehensive picture of platform dynamics, device usage and viewing behaviour in the UK market, as well as forecast trends for the next decade.  The model is updated every six months using data supplied by 3 Reasons subscribers, a comprehensive review of market data, and a good deal of expertise and judgement.

Insights and 10 year forecasts from the model are presented biannually to each client organisation, at large meetings which aim to educate and inspire.

“You’re the best attended of all the external presentations we have. Your strength is to rattle our cage and give us a view that doesn’t toe the line; the independent voice is key.”

Global Entertainment Brand

Many organisations across the UK media and broadband sector subscribe to the 3 Reasons service, including the majority of free-to-air and pay-TV platforms, internet service providers, TV tech vendors, sports rights holders and regulatory bodies.

3 Reasons was acquired by MTM in 2021 and operates separately, although clients who subscribe to the 3 Reasons model may of course choose to use those insights in synthesis with MTM’s research and consultancy services.

The principals at 3 Reasons are Stephen Taylor who heads up the platform dynamics section, and Charles Constable, leading the VOD and broadband part of the work. 3 Reasons was founded by Julian Dickens, who is now a Non Exec Director on the MTM Board.
