MTM’s UX research practice gains momentum: with an incredible 10x growth YoY

17th July, 2024, London: Today MTM announced that one year after MTM launched its UX research practice, the team has tripled in size and seen ten times YOY revenue growth. This is testament to how useful and important UX research is to insight clients, especially those in the Media, Entertainment, Tech and Telco industries, in an increasingly competitive digital landscape.

MTM’s UX research offer has helped MTM acquire four significant new clients, with the increase in demand continuing into 2024. Data shows that this is a growing area with the global UX services market projected to reach USD 32.95 billion by 2030, a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 37.8%.

The team is led by Michael Thompson, who has over 20 years’ research experience and has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands, including Google, Meta, McDonald’s and the BBC.

Since Michael joined MTM as Head of UX Research in 2023, he has built up his team to include Senior UXR Eva Muhr and UXR Mae Foster. Eva has brought valuable experience of running research programmes for large tech companies. Mae has experience of working closely with design teams, translating insights into product solutions.

Highlights from the UXR team’s work over the past year include:

  • Helping a leading tech company build and test a new AI chatbot
  • Identifying the drivers of on-screen prominence for TV broadcasters
  • Understanding media literacy around immersive technology for Ofcom

“We have been impressed by MTM’s UXR team. Having never worked with the agency before, Formula E commissioned them to review the performance of our app and website to inform content strategy. They worked very collaboratively and their methods helped us get close to the real-time user experience over a race weekend. Their findings were super-clear and enabled us to better tailor our content to user needs. UXR was our introduction to MTM and since the project has completed we have gone on to run a number of studies with the wider team.”
