CHALLENGE
Google Play Billing is a service that lets app owners on Google’s Play Store sell digital items, extra features or monthly plans within their apps. Google tasked MTM with understanding how its developers utilise Google Play’s Billing libraries and features to drive user acquisition, retention and, ultimately, revenue.
APPROACH
MTM interviewed 15 leading app developers from various categories to understand in more detail how they use Google Play Billing features to help them better monetise their audiences and grow revenue.
IMPACT
MTM identified five key ways in which developers derive value from Google Play Billing: simplicity, trust, a seamless UX, developer control and comprehensiveness. Findings were turned into a Medium post and accompanying PDF, showcasing best practices and optimisation strategies to empower developers to better utilise Google Play Billing features to be more successful on Android.
